Hi
I recently scored two Vintage (Might be knock-off) Hans Wegner CH28 Sawbuck lounge chairs. Made of solid white oak with original upholstery.
They are all original and appear to have been together since they were purchased in the early 50s. One of the chairs has a tag that reads "Made Expressly for Van Cleave Furniture Whittier Ca" the upholstery and patina indicate they were made in the 50s.
I have done preliminary research into the authentic Sawbuck chairs and found a few differences. The back bracing is different and there are dowels that are covering screw holes on the arms and back bracings.
As far as finding out the Maker of the chairs, I have absolutely no leads?? which leads me to the question?
Can these be early prototypes from Carl Hansen&Son or Very early Era reproductions made in extremely high quality???
Any Thoughts??
any help would be greatly appreciated:)
