Hi all. I have four knoll pollock chairs that have issues with the armrests. They look like the outer layer is worn away. By the looks they seem to be made of a wood fiber/plastic composite? When I get them wet or wipe with mineral spirits they look like new. Do you think that they were sprayed with a finish that has worn off or maybe just the outermost plastic laver is worn revealing the fibers.

I was thinking of wiping on a black dye and spraying with a couple coats of lacquer.

Has anyone seen this before?
The armrest pictures looks worse than it is.

Any advice would be appreciated
Mike
