We had some broken pegs as well. Easily drilled out. It is a common dowel size found at any hardware store. I have a 3 bay cado unit downstairs by the garage door and cut some extra dowel sizes...4 and 6 inches for keys and dog leashes to add to various empty holes. Stained them to match of course. Easily cut with a matt knife.
If it is one of the heavier units i would consider switching to metal pegs while you are at it for the extra strength. Just a thought.
