So I am slowly getting more obsessed with finding a Cado unit for our study, preferably with a desk. Of course I'm on a budget so I am looking for something below $1k; there's a setup on eBay, but not sure if it is Cado or not from the details? The door pulls are ones I haven't seen on authentic units, and has the round Danish mark instead of Made in Denmark stamped in the back of the shelf. Please take a look and give me your opinion if you have a minute. Thanks 🙂

.
I don't think Cado used the button mark.
The shelf brackets are different also.
You will have to be patient to find the Cado you are looking for.
Not impossible because so many were made.
Many of the non-Cado units are rather nice. Some even better
quality and often half the price.
I had somewhat given up looking when a gigantic unit practically jumped
in my lap...it was a buy-it-now and just 20min from me.

I have a Cado unit with the wood arms
and one difference that I notice is that my arms have absolutely angular crooks-- the arms pictured appear to have slightly rounded arm crooks.
Still, it's good looking. The only reason I personally might balk at this one is because of the full-panel back (as opposed to vertical mounting rails). It could look very handsome if you have JUST THE RIGHT SPOT for it, but it could also stick out like a sore thumb. Somehow, I think the railed units look more "united" with the rest of the room.

Thanks for the replys, I did...
Thanks for the replys, I did notice after posting that the arms were rounded so I think you are right in that this is not Cado but a nice substitute. I agree, the back panels always look funny to me and not integrated, I was thinking of just using the standards w/out them. For me the detailing on the Cado components are amazing, especially on the cabinets with miterered corners and angled inset faces. LRF thanks for the heads up, I will check on the Tulsa unit, I am never afraid to do a little furniture road tripping if the piece and price are right 🙂

Just remember
when looking, that the wall units have the holes in the panels.
The wall panels ARE the standards. The units without the panels
have solid wood standards, the wall strips that the brackets and
cases attach to with a series of angled holes.
The large wall panels are not solid wood and not possible to just cut them
off in any good lookin' way. So shop carefully.
We made some extra standards and that is no easy task!
Some show up on e-bay from time to time.
I do like the wall panel systems but they do need a spot that works.
The cabinets and shelves also leave a ghost pattern from being in the
same configuration for so many years. Best to use the same set-up.
Like to see yours Lloyd!

Not Cado, but
It's not CADO it's "H.G. Made in Denmark" Hansen & Guldborg designed by Rud Thygersen and Johnny Sørensen
Very nice unit in my opinion, well made and yes you can get a desk for it, I happened to have it. I would definitively recommend it if you are not hard set on CADO. You can get it without back panels.
Does anyone else have this one?

Wow that looks like quite...
Wow that looks like quite the shop! I would love to have a setup like that. I am in the process of fitting out CSS system to higher ceilings after I cut down the poles to 8' for our previous place. So I am taking the cutoffs and trimming them to 12 3/4, and currently fabbing the end connections in order to make the wall mount brackets that you see on ebay occasionally. I am finding that I will need to use the shop at work to get them to be accurate.
It's funny, of all the pieces we have I love the shelving units, because of the modularity and all the different types. I was looking at Dieter Rams' Vitsoe 606 shelves last night, such a different look but super clean! Definitely out of my price range though, ha.
LRF, I checked with mod 50's and they sold the CADO 🙁

re-upping this thread/vive la cado
Hi, just wanted to breathe a little life into this thread in case anyone had anything to add. I have given up trying to find wall supports for the cado shelves and boxes that I have and have approached a custom kitchen company to give me a quote on how much to make me some of these.
This thread has been extremely helpful and I am grateful to the participants for their input. Rockland your photos etc are beyond helpful. I don't suppose you want to sell your jig? Anyway, just wanted to throw this out there and see if anyone else has anything to add or can help narrow this down so I can afford it.
vive la cado...I am determined it will hang again!
(shown in photo is an old system I had that did have the wall rails. I have basically the same again but without the wall straps ;( I have stored it for 10 years trying to pursue straps but to no avail...I need to get it off the floor and onto a wall!

Where?
Hi LCA
Where in the world are you?
I'm curious to know the approximate amount they give you for the proforma.
My stepfather spent some time to figure out his jig, but now it's at hand, and he can work them pretty straightforward.
He's not selling anything, but if a piece of jig can be of any help...
