Just received the new DWR catalogue. They have reissued the Cado Royal wall systems.
For a minute I was sort of excited thinking that I might be able to add another bay or a bottom cabinet to my existing Cado unit, but unfortunately they are only selling complete systems and you can't switch pieces in and out. The only way to get a bottom cabinet is to buy the three bay unit at $5985. The only way to get a desk is to buy the two bay unit at $3895. Guessing if you wanted a desk and bottom cabinet you'd have to buy five bays at close to 10k. You can buy one bay "extension units" with just four shelves for $1775.
Pretty disappointing. Wonder why they didn't take advantage of the market of people looking to add to their systems and sell hardware, cabinets, vertical wall strips, etc on their own? Not as flexible as one would hope.
Guess I'll keep looking for vintage bits to add to mine. 🙂
What do you think? At that price point would you keep looking for vintage?

Just saw these
I just saw these in person at DWR last week - they are gorgeous! I was chatting with the guy there and I think you can get individual pieces if you ask, but according to the DK3 website the new stuff is not compatible with models pre-1985.
They don't specify why... hit the link, bottom of the page. You may be able to inquire if there is a way to retrofit the cabinets to fit your existing unit.

Our design within reach in to...
Our design within reach in town is the smallest in the country and they don't have everything in the showroom. I'll have to check them out when I'm in a bigger city.
The prices seem a bit on the high side and I'd be inclined towards the vintage for a tad less. I've got a thing about reproductions. Tried living with them and they always end up bothering me. Lol. I can handle the wannabes in lighting and that's about it.
