Hi all,
Came across this teak cabinet but I cannot make out the stamped name in the back. Would it be Niels(??) ? T?orsø(?). Honestly, I am not familiar at all with this manufacturer/designer.
Can someone please help?

There is a danish city called Thorsø which had at least two furnituremakers:
* Thorsø Tømrer og Maskinsnedkeri (still active: http://www.thorsoeas.dk/)
* Thorsø Stole og Møbelfabrik.

I did a search for just Niels Thorsø and found this old ebay listing for a small chest with a very clear mark:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/291670992820?
The stamp reads Niels J. Thorsø, and a search for that (in quotes) yielded this UK listing (no longer active so it should be here) for a rosewood bookcase/cabinet thing:
http://www.arkmidcentury.co.uk/danishmidcenturybookcaseinrosewood
But maybe you already saw those! I'm going to stick the photos in for future views since the listings will disappear eventually.

Found the pieces in photos #1 and #2 on a Polish site. I also got some results for a Danish search engine (?-- dba.dk ) but could not find the actual listing(s). They may have expired. One was for a small rosewood sideboard. It may be the one in #3 but that image popped up via some other search and had no ID with it, so who knows. The pulls look the same but the base is different (has stretchers).
I also searched for "Niels J. Thorso" and "Niels Thorso" because so many people just type O for Ø, and apparently Google doesn't make their usual assumptions about "did you mean...?" when you use quotes. It didn't really help much.
There are probably other pieces out there because ink stamps are often smeared or just faded too much to even be noticed.

Thank you much for you help. I admit not even figuring out it was an "h" in Thorsø.
There are plenty examples I see.
So it is safe to take Niels J. Thorsø as the manufacturer, right? Pricewise, from what I saw in the above mentioned examples I guess this would be a good buy at €450. 🙂
Thanks!

I would be very safe to assume Niels Thorsø is the maker. I've never heard of him, so I don't think there is any publicly available information about any designers he might have worked with, and he might not have worked with any designers at all. It is probably not a bad guess to think that he designed them himself.
