I was told that this pair of cabinets are by Herman Miller. (Plausible?) Does anyone recognize these?
I don't
think so . . .
Does that swell bottom rail and those cute little legs look like anything you've seen from the good folks at Zeeland ?
No, not in the slightest.
That's why I was checking here. I suspect that the woman who claimed they were HM uses "Herman Miller" as shorthand for anything and everything midcentury.
And, she had several other good things that were genuine Knoll,
and a wonderful Harold Schwartz/ Romweber dining table.
Ah.
You've seen these ? Are those touch-latch drawers ? Padded Naugahyde fronts ? Bizarre. . .
I have no idea how those pillowy drawers open
I've only seen photos thus far. But the rest of the items in the house are of very high quality.
Oh
And you pull the drawer open from the sides. There is a space between the outside edge of the drawer and the cabinet.
Those are Herman Miller!
Those are an early HM design by an under appreciated GIlbert Rohde .
Rohde is the initial creator of HM EOG and modular furniture which later morphed into the BCS group for which the George Nelson Associates mostly get credit for.
Thanks Pegboard & Mario
I thought there might be an outside chance it was early, pre-George Nelson Herman Miller; I guess what I was told is accurate, then--
Many thanks.
