Hello,
I have searched to find some difinitive things to look for when trying to identify whether These chairs I picked up at a Palm Springs estate sale are the real deal or not.
I picked them up together with a table base and shelving unit that are late 1970's Danish pieces.
They have a Carl Hansen sticker underneath, but I dont know how the stickers have changed over the years, or if they ever have. There are also some penciled marks on them to identify a craftsman perhaps?
The only other thing I have found is measurements and a solid wood backrest, which all seem to check out.
I will post some images later this morning. Thanks for your help!

Too good to be true
I think you're right Clint: $500 for 4 wishbone chairs IS too good to be true. To satisfy your guilty conscience send the chairs to me and you can keep the table & shelves. 😀
These look 100% authentic. They are beech with a teak stain on them - probably a slightly older production since the label differs slightly from mine.

Clint, Clint Clint every squirrel gets a acorn.
Two years ago I bought two KAGAN CHAIRS, a Harvey Probber
bedroom set, with 2 dressers, two night stands, head board. 1 Edward Fields rug. Karl Springer table. PACE COFFEE TABLE. Pace Book shelf, Harvey probber sofa. milo Baughman gametable and 4 chairs all for $3000.00, all had labels, I asked the nice young man what he wanted and he said $3000.00 and he said he would truck it all to my home. He was very nice and said his folks owned all the furniture in the 1970's and lived in Palm Springs. and passed away. and he just wanted to sell it as he just wanted to get it out of a warehouse.
I did not run to DA to ask my cyber friends if they thought I got a good deal or did they think it was all fake.
If you don't have a feeling that what you are buying don't buy just pass plenty of other people out hunting that know when they see a great deal.
Just came across this video . . .
. . . even though it was made in 2007. It provides some nice background info on Carl Hansen, Wegner, and CH24.
Sorry is this a repost from an old thread.

Reproductions
I came across some wishbone style chairs at a structube store. Can't beleive how identical they look at only $119/chair.
If someone was to stick a Hansen label on them, how would you know the difference?

Seriously?
Scandiman, even I can tell the difference. The weaving is piss-poor, the top rail is made from at least three pieces of wood, there's a flat spot at the top of each front leg, the front and rear stretchers aren't shaped like the real thing... And I'm not familiar enough with the chair to know, but the overall size and proportions are probably wrong, too.
And that doesn't even address the issues that would be immediately obvious in person, like wood quality or structural integrity.
Danish Modern Forgeries
If there were a forger of danish modern at work, I would guess that the works of Hans Wegner, and this chair in particular, might be a good target, because much of Hans Wegner's work was executed in oak and danish cord, which are very inexpensive, and the value of the finished "product" would be relatively high.
Hadn't ever thought about this....
And now my inner cynic is talking.

Sorry, didnt mean to offend. I'm certainly not suggesting that the quality and design are the same.
Allow me to clarify my thought - ifthe average person with little to no knowledge can doubt the authenticity of the original chair (with label), how easy would it be to pass a cheap reproduction as the real deal by slapping a label on it?
