I have what I am pretty sure(from checking out past threads and pix on this site)is a CADO modular wall unit. I've posted a link to an old thread- my unit is the same as the one pictured there. It consists of just two bays- 5 shelves, storage unit, and desk unit. It's teak, with slanted wooden pegs that go into the uprights and "boomerang" supports for the shelves.
Instead of uprights that mount on the wall though, my uprights have a tension pole system sticking out of the wood at the top which attaches to the ceiling.

Anybody heard of this tension variant on a CADO system before? Thanks for any help.

yes.
Telescopic pole mounts were made as well as stacking shelving systems.
Yours may have peg inserts on both sides of the uprights?
So that it could be placed free-standing and shelves placed on both sides.

Room Divider
Thanks for the information. Yes, the poles do have the holes on both sides so it could be a divider though I've just set it up against a wall. It's a great design. I especially like the inside of the desk unit with the dovetailed sliding drawers.
Any idea what years this particular model was made? I bought it from a man whose mother had purchased it back in the sixties.
