Can anyone help me determine if this is an authentic Bruno Mathsson chair? I bought it at a thrift store in 1998. Though there are no burnt stamp markings on this chair, it appears to be authentic to me. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you, Lani

Nope, sorry. I had one of those once and researched it extensively. It was way easier to prove it wasn't Mathsson than to figure out what it was! I never did find out. I think maybe it was something sold for just a few years by one of the modern stores in the 70s, like that place in Cambridge, MA, maybe. I don't know.
The webbing on mine was stretched and sagging so I redid it in black polypropylene webbing, which was the only thing I could find at the time that was the same width as the original. Unfortunately, I never took a photo of the finished chair. It looked pretty good and it was VERY comfortable, thanks to that lumbar curve in the frame.
I think the IKEA Poang chair has really cheapened this style chair. The Poang is also super comfortable and it has a nice look, but there are just so many of them in the world now! I considered that this chair was IKEA but the construction was different enough and I think there were other factors that set it apart, too.
