Hey Guyz (not gender-specific)-
I'm in the market for a new broom (for my witch) and sword (for myself).
I would like to solicit the following, in the specific order listed below:
1. Suggestions / recommendations
2. Thoughts
3. Opinions
4. Concerns -- either broom-and-sword-related or otherwise.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and courtesy.
Woody,
I'll address you...
Woody,
I'll address you question about brooms, as I have little experience with swords.
There are several good makes of brooms out there (Nimbus, Firebolt come to mind), but the first thing you should determine before deciding on a broom is the alignment of your witch. Is she a good witch or a bad witch? If you buy a broom designed for a bad witch and you're witch is a good witch, you're both in for a whole lot of trouble. A broom designed for a bad witch will instantly change the alignment of your witch and turn her into a bad witch. The scary thing is, she won't even notice, but you certainly will. Oddly enough, bad witches don't seem to have the same issue with brooms designed for good witches, which is too bad (or not, depending on your tastes).
How will the broom be used? Local flights? Long-distance flights? Cruisers are comfortable for long fights, but they lack the nimble response that you would need for say, catching a golden snitch. The zippy ones are great, but can be really be tiring for long distance flights. If she wants maximum comfort and you have a family, you might want to consider a flying carpet as it can often seat 3-4 occupants.
Don't be tempted by the cheap brooms you see on eBay though...the straw typically starts falling off of those within a few days, which seriously affects control. I've seen witches (good and bad) go into a screaming nose-dive on these brooms. They usually go by names that are very close to the respected manufactuers (like Numbus, Firebite). I wouldn't even use those to...uh...sweep my floors.
Hope this helps.
