I've been a "lurker" here for a while but I finally decided to post.

A local consignment shop has a genuine Brno chair (with tag attached) from the 70's. It's the flat bar (non-tubular steel) chromed steel version in brown leather. It looks to be in good condition. Although I don't need this chair, and it wouldn't fit in with my home decor, I find myself attracted to it (even though it would probably end up in my office.) What would be a reasonable (realistic) price on this chair?

FWIW they also have a beautiful rosewood & glass desk that is of excellent quality and build (solid wood, dovetailed drawers, etc...) for $900. I can't find a maker's mark on it, but I'm sure it would be $8K + on 1st Dibs.

Magnet
Make sure it's the stainless steel version. Chrome steel version is cheaper and simply not as durable. Take a good magnet and see it it sticks. If it holds strongly you've got chromed steel, if drops off then it's stainless. Less than $250 is a good deal if it's in good shape.

It's genuine
It's genuine and has the production tag on the bottom of the seat. I don't know if it's chromed steel or stainless, but I'll check. They have it marked at $200, but they've had it for a while so I may be able to talk them down a little bit.
