I have gone through all books all websites I can think of trying to find this wall unit with metal L shaped hooks to the back and with no avail...can anyone pinpoint the designer, there are some similarities to Borges work but I'm not entirely sure....stamped sweden on the back
thank you
If the piece
was of the highest quality (i.e., low production), the grain of the doors would be balanced. That is, the pair of figures on the left-hand door -- two out of three leaves of veneer -- would have been matched by having the mirror pair of leaves on the far right, not at the center. A minor point, and nothing to reduce the loveliness of the veneer, or of the cabinet.
Not necessarily so...
Normally, I would agree that grain matched doors is a sign of a higher quality (lower production) piece, and it's certainly something to look for in terms of aesthetics. However, I just checked my PS System cabinets, which are exactly the same as the one above with the L-shaped brackets on the back, and on all 3 pieces the doors are grain matched - perfect mirror images. While these boxes have obviously been around for a couple decades, I wouldn't say they are high quality. They are just run-of-the-mill veneered particle board, but certainly better than IKEA.
