by Hvidt and Molgaard. I found one of these in San Francisco today. The brass finish to the legs is considerably degraded. Handsome piece in profile. I didn't sit in it, or learn the price.
simple as it comes
Hi sdr
the chair is great to sit in as the webbed seat and back gives a unique floating seat.
the chairs were well thought out apart from one weakness.
where the armrest is mounted to the frame the brass bracket is very fragile and likely to split the side frame if the arm is banged against something or rested on its side.
the legs must NEVER be polished as this wears away the brass finish and they then start to go black and in the worst case rust.
The seat springs can be replaced if worn out.
contact www.fagas.com for those.
great chair and worth every euro.

I had a pair of these which had been dismantled for some time and the legs taped together, completely ruining the brass coating. It was cheap enough though to get them replated at one of the electroplaters I normally use for chrome plating. For the seat supports you can use the plastic covered wire stuff for hanging lace curtains sprayed darked brown - looks identical!

Great chair! I do prefer the slipper chair over the arm. The fragility of the arm rest version is something to seriously consider. Also consider the design itself. It has a fast, light, nimble quality to it. Something one would rapidly sit in or exit from (to me at least)... I'd be concerned about getting poked by the short stubby armrest...arm rest do look and compliment this chair well! I believe the arm rest are removable via screws.
If it's on the reasonable (low side) of pricing, and you don't want it, I'll take it. I had chance before, in similar sounding condition...serious tarnish, degraded webbing, acceptable upholstery (better replaced). 1600 euros is steep!

Do you recall the pricing on electroplating? I'm in a position to have some done, yet clueless on pricing standards.

Whats this? Never heard of this. Know of a link?
"Net curtain wire"...
"Net curtain wire" apparently - this is a link to some on Ebay.
Its basically a metal wire with a white plastic coating - most hardware shops will stock it - its identical to the stuff used to hold the seats on these chairs (+others), just the wrong colour so you'll need to spray it with a plastics paint.
The cost of electroplating has gone through the roof just recently because of the world price of metals - best bet is to try any local electroplaters / chrome laters near to you and compare prices - quality differs a lot too though, but sometimes you don't need the very best quality anyway
