Bookworm Instructions
I just bought a 5.2m red bookworm from someone who had bought a house where the previous owner had left it on the wall [sacrilege!]. Hence, I have no instructions for how to attach it to the wall or how to stiffen the bookends when I've attached them to the bookworm itself [I can screw the bookends onto the bookworm, but they're flapping about from side to side].
Any help would be much appreciated!
I also emailed them.
I emailed them again today, that three times now and no response. I hoped to get the instruction for you, but nothing yet. Next time i'm in San Francisco, i'll drop by Kartel and see if I can get anything for you. Maybe we should protest, everyone melt your plastic.

If I remember well, the front parts of the bookends are removable. It is thus necessary to proceed this way:
1. attach all bookends to the ribbon
2. remove the front parts of the bookends
3. screw the bookworm on the wall with screws in the two holes located at the back of each bookends (with a very long screwdriver)
4. place the front parts on the bookends
I hope that I am clear.
You must decide before which form you wish to give to the bookworm and you will also need a friend to help you because it is almost impossible to do it alone.
Good luck
Thanks Patrick.

Thanks Patrick.
Should the screws for the attaching the bookends to the wall be provided or will I have to find them? If so, would you happen to know what kind of screw I should look for?
When I bought it, I only got the ribbon, the bookends and 22 screws to attach the bookends to the ribbon.
Melting Plastic
James, I say we picket their flagship store, placing burning barricades in front of them made from thermoplastic and technopolymer [batch-dyed, of course, in cobalt blue and wine red, preferably]. Perhaps balaclava-clad design addicts should bombard their stores by night with 'instructions' on how to write instructions.
Dear Goatfest
I do not know where you are located but if yuo want to fix it on a Gyproc wall or any dry-wall for that matter, try to get hold of Expandet Rosett wall achors (see link) There is nothing better!
Choose pan-headed screws and in your case I would replace the washer that is part of the Rosett by a larger washer, in fact try to use the largest washer possible that fits in the holow book supports. The weakest link is the backwall of the booksupport, so if you use a larger washer it will hold on to more surface and give it more strength.
Using Rosett abchors is not different from most wall anchors. You put the anchor in a pre-drilled hole (make sure you drill it smaller than indicated on the instructions) push the anchor in the hole and thighten the screw untill you feel strong resistance. Unscrew the screw, fit the book-end on top of the anchor and put the screw back.
Do not even consider other wall anchors, most of them either self destruct behind the wall or cut themselves into the Gyproc, creating a substantial market for Gyproc repair kits...
