Just moved into a new place. Where do I put my books? A lot of interior photos as you will be aware suffer an absence of books (unless they are massive art books and look good on shelf displays). Do you put them in the living room, or the bedroom? Out of sight, in a cupboard? I have two rooms to play with, the living room and the bedroom, I don't want to put them in the kitchen lest they get greasy...

Find a suitable place a build or buy some nice bookshelves. Your books should be visible and readily accessible. If they go into a closet or cupboard they will rarely again be seen...out of sight, out of mind.

I think that interiors without visible books don't necessarily have them stowed away somewhere, I think it's more likely that those people don't own a lot of books. I know a lot of people who don't have many books (three of whom are my kids).
But there are also people who don't like to have to dust books in bookcases, so maybe they are stashing them out of sight, though I've also heard many say that that's a good reason to get rid of books.
That said, I'm in the same position right now myself. After culling, I still have a bunch of books I'm not willing to part with and my new place is quite small. I think the books are going to go in the bedroom in (hopefully) low bookcases along one wall with as many others as will fit on an HG wall system in the living room.
In my old house there was a transition area between living room and dining room that I lined with tall bookcases on one side and wall-hung shorter bookcases on the other. That was before culling and the shelves were all full. I loved how that looked and really loved having all the books in one place and organized by subject with fiction all alphabetized by author. LOVED it. But I don't have the space for that anymore.

Bookcase
If you cherish your books, try to keep them out of direct sunlight. The sun is not friendly towards artwork, books or any other item comprised of paper, paint or print. It fades colors and yellows paper.
