There is no marking on the worm or any of the bracket parts, so theoretically they could be easily faked, but I've never come across a fake one and would be surprised if there were any. You can check the packaging, meaasurements and colors are correct and be reasonably sure its original I guess.
BTW, installation is a bitch, be sure to follow the recommended designs! I didn't and learned the hard way how unforgiving hard plastic can be to bend.

I can sympathise Cwoo. I took mine down and placed it on the floor during decorating, and the darn thing snapped. Kartell had previously been very nice about replacing broken bookends (for free), but they weren't willing to even sell me the 5m length of plastic which had snapped, let alone replace it. I've learned my lesson and now use Vitsoe which is pretty much indestructible.

I'll have to look up Vitsoe, not familiar with that unfortunately. I've gotten bored with my bookworm, although its followed me for a few yrs and I've had different colors, if I move soon then I'll look for an updated shelf.
My problem was the brackets that weren't strong enough to "force" the main strip into another shape. One night soon after being put up, there was a loude >SNAP!
