I would like to pick up some of his wood toy designs.

- Which ones are considered the classics?
- Who makes them today?
- If I wanted vintage ones, where should I look?

Thanks.

I think the monkey is...
I think the monkey is probably the most popular Bojesen toy. The monkey, elephant and bear are still in production and I think you can also still get the wooden soldiers new.
Our Danish friends told me that the soldiers are brought out at Christmas and other holidays. I've bought and sold about half a dozen of them and have been tempted to keep at least one--maybe next time.
You can get vintage Bojesen toys on Ebay, but make sure they're the real thing. The monkeys were widely copied but the knockoffs have different details.
I think my favorites are the family of ducks. I see them on ebay now and then but they do not sell for cheap!
The elephant is a little clunky-looking compared to some of the other toys. It's probably my least favorite.
Google "Kay Bojesen" to find places that sell those that are in current production. You can buy them in the UK, Denmark, and the US and probably in other countries, too.

oops
Sorry, the duck family I mentioned above is by Hans Bolling, not Bojesen.
Below is a US website that sells a bunch of the toys, including the soldiers.

Hello kolecho
The monkey, elephant and bear are produced by Rosenthal and are indeed Bojesen classics however the hippo, rabbit, seaparrot, Dachshound and horses are considered classics too (though they're not in production anymore).
I would try this guy (he's expensive but has an impressive collection):

rosenDhal, Denmark not rosenThal, Germany
Not to mix up Rosenthal in Germany that produces ceramics and Rosendhal in Denmark 😉

Oh yes, doh! - thank you,...
Oh yes, doh! - thank you, Patrick. I always mix those two up because of their similar names. It took me years to start mentioning the famous Swedish glass-designer Vicke Lindstrand as a 'he' instead of a 'she' 🙂

Just ordered a small monkey...
Just ordered a small monkey and elephant. I think these two capture the spirit of the animals they represent. Not sure about the bear.
