Much peyote necessary...
To "appreciate" such so-called music.

.
Wow, I loved it, thanks.
But I can just imagine some ghastly interperative dance "collaboration".

one is enough
jlapotre,
I watched the video and could not last through the entire clip. I do appreciate Harry Bertoia's work, but I am positive that one is enough in the auditory sense (multiples would be "easy on the eyes" in their physical presence). Several "sound sculptures being played" (a term used loosely) over a great period of time could be used for "aggressive questioning" of suspect individuals.

I liked it, but
I'd be way more interested in hearing and seeing an actual piece composed for these pieces, something with some form and not just one person walking around playing what seems like random pieces. Maybe he had an overall plan for this but it didn't come off that way.
There's a lot of great music for just percussion instruments, by the way!

This is Magnificent. Thanks...
This is Magnificent. Thanks for the link.
If you don't get this, try some exposure to Brian Eno, John Cage, Terri Riley, Steve Reich, etc.
It'll improve your modern environment, and therefore your life!

ne'er-do-well son
objectworship,
I know and appreciate the music you mention. The sounds being produced by a ne'er-do-well son do not qualify as music. Val should keep his day job making a living off the works of his talented father.

You sound like my dad talking about rap.
"They're just talking! That's not music, that's noise."
Such criticism is not valid.

Ambient music is wack...
And hip hop is cack.
Perhaps that doesn't sound so much like daddy?

Here's some
great ambient tracks.
Soundscape by Pink Floyd. 22 min. Hidden track on the cassette version only of Pulse.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwNYq-c0lBw
George Harrison - Electronic Sound. 2 tracks only. One is 18 min long, the other 24 min. Both created with the Moog Synthesizer. The liner notes read: "There are a lot of people around, making a lot of noise, here's some more."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnkJAmVLVhM
Snowball by Moby. Great ambient track:

God Moving Over The Face of Waters by Moby. From Heat soundtrack:

Only 5, but some of the best ambient cuts ever...

I enjoyed the video, but like spanky and niceguy have already pointed it out, it would've been more interesting to hear an actual piece composed for the sculptures, -and luckily there is:

-I should add that I heard...
-I should add that I heard some of those records maybe 20 years ago and I can't remember to what extent they were actual 'compositions' or simply the sound of someone walking around a room touching sculptures...
That said, it would be interesting to hear what some of the composers mentioned would make out of it.

Not sure on that one...
I guarantee though that if Dave Gilmour, Roger Waters, or George Harrison got a hold of those, the recorded outcome would be a lot different...
Bootleg of Dave and Roger talking about that very thing, during an outtake of On The Run for Dark Side of The Moon:
Dave: It would be interesting to see exactly what 4 people could do, who didn't know anything about music really, and you just told them to get on with it, and do something. It'd be an interesting experiment.
Roger: I think we've come off better. (Laughs)
Dave: It's like saying, give a man a Les Paul guitar and he becomes Eric Clapton.
Roger: Well that's not true. You can give a man an amplifier and a synthesizer, and he doesn't become whoever, you know.
Dave: He doesn't become us.
