I am trying to tell weather these Bertoia bar chairs are vintage Knoll or knockoffs. If anyone has any insight into how to tell the difference that would be great. I am going to check them out tomorrow AM, we've agreed on a price of $225. She bought them at an estate sale with lots of vintage mid-century items, so she is thinking they are authentic? I can't find images that would help distiguish...any help is appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Probably fake
I'd guess that they are most likely knock-offs. They did not make bar height or counter height Bertoia chairs back in the day and the ones that Knoll offers now does not have the sled base but rather four feet.

Look Fake
Something about the angle seems pushed forward to me. And I'm not sure about vintage Knoll, but the current pieces have 4 legs - not a sled base. Also, if the rim is two pieces of wire (hard to see in the photo) it's definitely a copy.

Thanks
That's what I've been thinking after some research...might have to keep looking. The Emeco bar stools are nice but pricey..

Not to disagree with the great LuciferSum...
but early Bertoia wire chairs did have double wire rims. These bar stools, however, are not one of them.

The knock-offs
With the double rim are pretty easy to spot. The shape of the seat usually looks like crap.

Hmm
Still considering buying these...the price isn't bad. I don't like knockoffs but they are 2nd hand so does that count?? Until I can afford some Emecos ($360!) these could work for awhile...the image is of the counter where they would go...the teak table is getting moved in favor of a 48" HM Eames round. Also I just wanted to show off our kitchen, which I just finished renovating. Evrything was touched, we tried to keep the '59 feel but with updated everything. So yah...the stools? It's only a 6" overhang, that's all you can get w/ Corian unsupported.

check the pads. if they've got knoll labels, you know what they are. if they're clean, but there are no labels they are likely not.
right now, you can buy repro stools for $200 for a pair, so don't bother with these unless they're the real deal.

I like your original...
I like your original table/chairs best. The teak is nicer than a HM table.
