what an awful awful organisat...
what an awful awful organisation!
I have read a little about microwaves and am not concerned by them,I don't use them for cooking becuase I like cooking and theyre boring, but if the heating unit was well contained I think it would be a great way to heat houses + water with an efficient use of electricity.

I was thinking about kettles ...
I was thinking about kettles the other day, would it be possible to have a glass kettle? with pyrex type glass, it would be nice to see the water boiling, just an off the top of the head idea.
ah of course if its dropped! How thick am I?

I would love to see water boil...
I was using one of my old Pyrex pots and enjoyed the heck out of watching the bubbles.

regarding this Macy kettle...
it seems the little metal curl under the back half of the split handle would burn your hand for sure.

Watching water boil
When I was a child we had a Pyrex coffee percolator - that was great to watch. It's double appears in the first episode of Quantum Leap.

Just looking
at it, I would say the pouring motion would be ungainly and awkward. Perhaps of the handle/filler were "bent" upward to a bit more than 45 degrees from the horizontal, and grasped thumb-up ?
A prime example of how a lovely but inappropriate form isn't quite so lovely after all. . .?

Pete, I think
this kettle might be one of those that look swell but is not logically easy to use.
That makes it bad design, in my book. Good design has to work for the purpose it's intended, or it's a bust.
A tea kettle ain't a vase, in my book.

I did wonder about the pourin...
I did wonder about the pouring it kind of reminds me of a watering can, i think it would be ok if used from the hip but when used at worktop / countertop height it would be very awkward
Most of the examples you see on ebay are unused or have had very light use even though they have been out of production for over 10 years, I guess this says a lot
all things said I'd still love to own one 🙂

Got some more stuff on the Tea kettle up on top:
Introducing the award winning Chantal ProDesign Teakettle with Hohner® harmonica whistle. One of the first teakettles designed specifically for professional ranges. The ProDesign Teakettle works beautifully on all stovetops. The durable 18/10 brushed stainless steel body has a large base for faster heating. Features a heat resistant handle, spout lever, Hohner harmonica whistle and airtight seal to prevent steam from escaping.

It does sound like a winner, doesn't it?

thinking of appliances that make noises when they've done the job, I think silence is golden and my short term memory is still good enough to know when something is about ready.
Anyway wouldn't it be nice for the beeps and alarms to build up slowly to a nice b flat and then fade out again and I'd like my lights (I know this cab be done) to fade in and out when I flick the switch.
When I look around these suburbs and realise that most of the houses are all hooked on the net but then look at the standard of housing and the behemoth internal combustion engines parked in every drive I realise that the future still isn't here yet.

Well, it finally showed up
I finally got it from macys and it's a beautiful kettle. It works great, but at 3 1/4 quarts, it's monsterous.
I wish it was a 2 quart kettle, but i think it'll last forever.
