Fellow fanatics, sometimes I come across pieces that I wish I could buy, but have something so similar that I cannot bring myself to do it. In this case, I just bought a soft pad lounge and ottoman and do not have more space. The alternative, however, is to tell you all about it! This is a gorgeous example and rarely do I see a 60's set in such nice shape. In case anyone has been looking for one, or enjoys admiring these nice old examples, I just wanted to share. I do not own it, I promise.
On a different note, this is naugahyde, right? Early 60's example? Are the armrests original? Do we think they have been re-powder coated?

Meh.
Yes it's early, and yes it's Naugahyde.
I prefer this chair's 4-star base to the newer 5-star, but the vinyl would be a dealbreaker for me; I think fabric is a lot nicer on that chair.
Plus, if the seller can't even tell the difference between leather and vinyl, how can I believe that he's qualified to render ANY judgment on the chair's condition? I wouldn't be surprised, for example, if the tilt mechanism were broken and he didn't say so because he honestly didn't know it was supposed to feel different.
Plus, it's way too expensive even for a fabric chair in very good condition.
Plus, I can't stand the black-and-white effect he's applied to his photos. He took those photos in color; what's he trying to hide?
