Bauhaus, Thonet or PEL? Can you solve the mystery?

I have been trying to figure out who made these tables for at least 15 years. I have contacted dealers, looked in reference books and scoured the web but still have never seen another set.
They are made from chrome plated tubular steel with beveled glass tops.
They have pitting and ware that suggests that they are old, and the rubber seals have also gone hard.

A reader thinks they may have been made by Mart Stam. What do you think? I think they are 1920-30's, but I am stuck for an id.

I am a collector of vintage furniture and not a dealer. Any help on this would be much appreciated. Thank you.
