Anyone remember the name of the New York metal workshop who supposedly manufactured the Barcelona lounge and several other classics for Knoll before (and continues to do their own versions still...)?

Are you sure? I checked their website, but I can't find any historical info.
I remember an old website, which spoke of a long tradition of working with artists and designers, experimenting with techniques etc...
The Gordon site looks like all the other knock-off manufacturers sites. Maybe they changed it, but then I think they made a big mistake in neglecting to mention the history of the company...
