So shoot me. I'm Quixotic when it comes to glass. I bought a pair of Tapio Wirkkala candle holders (his name and 3412 etched on the bottom) with big chips. For $3 I could not say no to such beauty even with the imperfections. They are toad stool shaped crystal. Alas the chips are huge, half inch by a third of an inch by an eigth of an inch shard on the pedestal near the base. What could one do?

Grinding would make the pedestal lop-sided. Could you grind it smooth and then build it up with acrylic?

My other thought was to create a black sleeve from some shiny material that went up an inch from the base. Its just not right throwing something this beautiful away even with the chips. Maybe I'll just leave them as they are and call them war wounds.

Windshield repair?
What about one of those windshield places? Could they apply a glob of that invisible stuff for you or an intern to then smooth out by hand?
