That's good advice, thanks....
That's good advice, thanks. Though I'm not considering a job on full time, just 1-3 days a week, I would certainly prefer an enviroment that takes modern design as seriously as I do. Your description of Lauritz.com fit my general impression quite well. There's also Gaugauin.dk but they're hustlers, I think. I live close to Lauritz.com's showroom here on Sealand but I'll try Museumsbygningen first then. Thanks for the recommodation. An extra 30 min. travelling time would be no problem, if it meant that the people I work with will take my knowledge seriously and appreciate it.
Actually, a journalist working undercover recently asked Lauritz, Bruun Rasmussen and Ellekilde if they were willing to sell illegal art objects from China and Afghanistan, and even though they were told that these art objects had been smuggled out of their org. countries recently, all three auctions houses said YES! I could't believe my own eyes when I read it. I mean, it's just money, something they earn a lot of anyway. These auction houses should really take responsibility as the propagators of culture they are, whether it's furniture, art, objects, vintage cars and clothing, whatever - it all tells a story and it all has a value beyond what can be estimated in $$$. Grrrr, I can get so mad.
Where's moral and ethic hidding these days? ... oh, perhaps they were sold at Bruun Rasmussen.
When I go to London again, I will certainly swing by and see what you're doing, yes. I think your story is quite interesting. How are they greeting this auction concept in the UK?

New Auction house in London
To tell you the truth, it's very hard. As we're the first to do this particular type of auctioning and as I don't know the traders over here, it is a long hard uphill struggle. But people are luckily starting to buy and sell more frequently now.

Hi M_Andersen
dcwilson's well formulated comments on what I desperately try to express in a few sentences in a borrowed language, always makes me speechless and somehow I forgot to answer your question on the Louisiana exhibition on Poul Kjaerholm.
I am very sorry to admit, but when the bank allows it, we spend our travel money on visiting my daughter and grandsons in England and in spite of wonderful memories of Denmark and especially the Louisiana museum in Humblebeck, and in spite of a limitless admiration for Poul Kjaerholm, I will not be able to make it to Denmark. I am sure you will enjoy it for both of us!

Well well
The discussion started on the subject of Bodil kjæs wonderful desk which I am fortunate to have had through my shop, although many years ago, and now to the pros and cons on auction houses.
YES they have a vested interest in their sales and have been "bollocked" in the media a few times for selling items of scrupilous origins, notably the jewllery that Bruun-rasmussen sold to the Crown prince which he had valued only to discover that they were infact NEW!
Having been in this business since 1983 we have seen the rise and fall of many individuals, shops and auction ventures and one can only agree with luckner that lauritz has got the concept right just not the morals.
So to get back to the original conversation that BK desk is to be reproduced i want to add that since Brazilian Rosewood is today endangered and banned from commercial us I can only see the desk not as a reproduction of the original but as a replica of it.
Luckners I will pop in on tuesday next week if I get that chance as i am in London.
Simon
