The ratcheting mechanisms on my arms are broken. B & B no longer makes or has parts. Has anyone ever repaired these? If so, how?

There is only one thing to do with an ugly sofa from the eighties: trash it.

Don't worry about him the Alanda is a classic.
I would guess there should always be a way to repair it.
If covers don't come off you would need to carefully undo the stitching to open up and see what part is broken.A metalworker could always make a new part and an upholsterer can restitch it back when fixed.
Ideally if someone knows how the mechanism works it would help assess what could be wrong. At least you will know what to expect.
A good furniture restorer who does MCM furniture may also do it if there is one in your area.
I have the Alanda bed and it's damn hot.

Thanks Starline. I have the matching wide lounge chair, both pieces in tan, and they're beautiful and unique together. Some one in San Francisco should be able to fix the arms.
