Iam loving the quick wit!! I never met Martin Barnacle but I placed an order with cf4u for a sarinnan dining table in Dec. It was a bit of a wait but I recieved it last week! It is stunning. If I had read this thread before hand iam not sure If I would have gone ahead with the order but hey now I have a table I have been after for years!

I had the same concerns with Moderndose though I haven't ordered anything from them yet, has anyone purchased anything with them? They've been very flaky with email and phone and just not very responsive but I created a thread on them and all of the sudden one person whose name had never been seen on this forum wrote such a wonderful review of their business and that made me more suspicious. However I've been noticing Moderndose on Craigslist.org posting their products every now and then. I still haven't received my fabric samples and still don't know what to make of them.

GuyinSF, your describtion of Moderndose just set of all the red alarms. Stay away!
I can't believe I'm saying this ... but you can find copies of famous modern design icons anywhere, so why not put a little effort into finding a store/company that actually appears interested in selling something to you. Judging from Moderndose's poor service, they're not.

I have always wanted one but the good ones cost a fortune.I have scoured the internet looking for an italian calcutta marble round Saarinan there are many bad quality Saarinans repros out there which claim to be 'made in Italy'. My brother (an architect) visited his in laws in France and saw this Saarinan which they bought from classic furniture!! He assured me of the quality so I placed my order and I was quoted 6 weeks as they are made to order. I recieved it in 8 weeks, I was a little apprehensive but I did recieve a phone call advising me of the delay so at least I was informed. The quality is amazing.

Its a small world but Martin Barnacle is one of the men behind Ralph Morris Leisure who are trading in Oceans old premises in Kentish Town and run by Ian his old partner. I think you will find that Martin gave Charles the idea to make the chair in the first place. Apparantly he knew Corbusier very well as well
