Hi,
I'm considering buying these vintage chrome Bertoia side chairs and am trying to make sure they're "real." The wires seem correct and the seat pads do have Knoll tags.
What's throwing me off is the height of 29.5" I know new ones are 28.75" but the seller says vintage ones were a different height. Anyone know if this is true? (why did Knoll not stamp these chairs before the 90s?!)
Thanks in advance. (use arrow keys to advance to next photo; 5 total).

Hi
They are authentic. I don't have any vintage chairs at the moment to check the height, but Knoll has modified the design numerous times. The current production chairs have a more reclined back, which may account for the height discrepancy.

Great, thanks. The guy...
Great, thanks. The guy that's selling them says:
"vintage Bertoias will come in about 29.5" - 30". Mine are 29.5", with the giving base they have, over time they can spread, although, science would never allow it to go more than 1", not possible."
Thought that was interesting, but wasn't sure if true.
I read somewhere that Bertioa chairs pre '90s (before they started marking them Knoll) are worth a lot less than newer ones bc w/o a cert. of authentication you'll never be sure they're really Knoll. True, or internet gossip?

The evidence is before you.
Even without a certificate of authenticity, Woodywood was able to tell that they were Knoll...
