Good day to all. I purchased this mid century English made credenza for a design client planning to strip the gawdawful refinish job and have her painted up a la Tommy Parzinger style but found some absolutely beautiful solid and veneered teak beneath. Out with the Parzinger idea an on with a natural finish.
My dilemma: how can I keep the wood the awesome pale color as teak oil or tung oil will turn it anywhere from yellow to orange? Have read a few online ideas but you guys and gals have the most rusted advice.
Cheers and thanks.

Rusted advice.
I like that.
Any clear finish will darken and brighten the color of the wood from its raw state. There are "water clear" finishes which will not yellow the wood; many of these are water-borne acrylics which you can apply yourself, brushing (or rolling and brushing out) in thin coats with fine sanding between. Ask at a professional finish store.
Assistance from a wood refinisher...
The new water borne finishes will not yellow or amber like oil. However, they generally will not be as nice of a finish either. That one hot and/or humid day can cause objects placed on the surface to stick.and possibly mar the finish. Also, I generally do ot recommend tung oil. Once tung oil is applied, refinishing in the future with any other wood refinishing product is near to impossible.
