Hey fellow addicts,
first post here!
I'm currently looking for a new, comfortable lounge chair for my living room that allows prolonged sitting in different positions, especially slouching - when I'm relaxing in a chair, I never sit up straight.
Pierre Paulin's Orange Slice is mentioned a lot as an extremely comfortable chair, but it looks really small on some (albeit not all) pictures I found on the net, so I wonder if it's comfortable for longer periods of sitting with the feet on the ottoman. The Oyster looks a bit bigger with a higher back, but I only found one picture with someone sitting in it, so it's very hard to judge.
I'm living in Germany and it's very hard to find a dealer that even carries Artifort around here, the next authorized dealer is a two hour drive away.
So, if anyone ever sat in on of these chairs, your opinion would be highly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Thorsten
Hi Thorsten,
I'm the happy owner of a couple of Orange Slice chairs, and I like them a lot. I don't find them uncomfortable, but I learned a long time ago that comfort is largely subjective, so it's difficult to say whether your experience would match mine. I don't have the ottoman, so that might make a difference in perceived comfort. They're not as "squishy" and enveloping as , say, an Eames lounger. The foam is quite dense and supportive; it's not the sort of chair that you flop into and go "aaaah". But I like them for precisely that reason. As for size, you're right, they do sometimes look small online, but they're actually quite big and wide, and take up quite a lot of floorspace for a single chair.
Don't know if this helps you any, but that's my experience.
