Cubby, Herbert Hirche is...
Cubby, Herbert Hirche is correct for designer of the case. It is either walnut or teak....not red. Color scanner isn't all that great with subtle tones.

Simply stunning.
You are a lucky man.
Our girls are 16 and 19 now and my gratitude knows no bounds. Boys would have ruined our house and the things within it long ago... and, yes, everyone, that's a sweeping generalization, I know.

Just fantastic jesgord
I'm as green as your terrific sofa with envy.
We constantly dream of a weekend getaway, (I even have furniture secreted away if we ever do have a place) but will never have one as nice as yours.
The house, the views... spectacular.

Little girls definitely tend ...
Little girls definitely tend to be a bit easier on the furniture than boys 🙂 although they have done their share of damage. For what it's worth, I recently figured out that the sofa was designed by Theo Ruth for Artifort. Peg-I'm sure you'll get to use that stored away furniture one day soon.

Dearest Jesgord,
After viewing your lovely home, I am now convinced that I made a mistake in a recent purchase of a home in the mid-west. Yours just smokes. Luckily (for me), I have been able to retain 4 acres (of the original 15) and sell the remainder to a trusted friend/developer. This helped bring the price point more in line with what we wanted to spend, and I had no business maintaining that much land. Methinks that after a few needed improvements are complete, a for-sale sign will be planted. It's just too large of a house for our needs, and not of the correct style of architecture. It's a learning curve, I got carried away. I hope to turn a slight profit...
Best,
Old Mark

what a kitchen by the way, it...
what a kitchen by the way, it seems so tempting for people to ruin them. We all work with what we have and you and your wife have done a marvelous job!

Wonderful
What a lovely house! You did such a good job refurbishing it and decorating it! What is the bed in the master?

great and personal selection of items.
I've looked at these Kerf kitchens before, are you happy with them? What material is the countertop made of?
Great to see the artifort sofa, I have a Congo-chair by Ruth in the living room:

Rocky-The bed in the master...
Rocky-The bed in the master bedroom is from Germany from the 1960's.....that's about all I know about it. We wanted something very simple and it fit the bill. Actually found it on ebay.
BJ-Love the Kerf cabinets. They have held up extremely well. We also used Kerf fou our bathroom vanities. As for the countertops, they are slate. We wanted a surface with a low/no sheen and bit of natural "movement" (clefts, bumbs, etc.). The slate has been wonderfully durable, easy to maintain. Very happy with that as well.

Kofod-Larsen
Seeing the Kofof-larsen chair reminds me that I still need to get the back off of mine so as to send out to be caned and I'v had zero luck getting the security screws to release. Not able to find the correct size tool online. Sits in the library looking lonely yet beautiful. Anyone with ideas? Congrats on the stellar home!!

Thanks Jesgord!
We're looking at a renovation ourselves and I'm planning doing the kitchen on my own. Slate seems a lovely material and would be my choice for the same reasons as you mentioned..
