I purchased 4 slatted seat/back bar stools (seats only, no legs) from an elderly gentleman 10 years ago. I intended to mount them onto stool bases eventually but never got around to it. They look similar to the Arthur Umanoff wood slat bar stools, but the stamp on the bottom of the seat says 'Made in Romania'. There is also a circular machine stamp on one corner about the size of a silver dollar with an 'M' in the center and '404' under that. Do you know anything about these? Are they worth anything? Thank you!!
East European Modern
It seems that a lot of Modern furniture was made in Romania, Yugoslavia. Someone said it was the China of Europe during the Mid Century. Sounds like your chairs are Knock offs. I have to say that most of the Eastern Euro Knockoff are of pretty good quality though. S
