This is carved into walnut veneer board, about four feet long (pic includes a CD - remember those? - for scale). I believe it is original from the 50's or 60's. No label or signature, but chalk number on back looks like it wasn't someone doing a one-off in their garage. Any hints on what this process is called or any similar work anywhere would be appreciated. Plus of course I'm looking forward to some scathing critiques of the artwork.

Sure it's not super highbrow, but it gets a couple ideas across quite pleasantly.

You know those wood-burning kit pictures from the fifties? Paint by numbers? Gig Pity Kitties? None of these are possible without bad taste. Neither is anything postmodern, really.
