IMY MIND WAS BLOWN
From him:
"I did not drill holes in the set to accommodate the new hardware. I'm
attaching a photo of the original hardware so you can view it. I'm not sure
what type of metal they're made out of. It seems to have been painted gold
though. There are 16 pulls, 4 of the pulls have darkened with age; those
pieces were originally on the vanity, so I'm not sure if that had something
to do with the tarnish effect."
Here is the photo of the knob. First of all, it looks insane. Secondly, it appears to be a bad photoshop job.
Why shouldn't the seller act as if they don't know what is---
since nobody here seems to know either, it seems completely plausible.
The gordian-knot drawer pull photo doesn't even make sense if Photoshopped: the heavy black shadow is longer on the sides than the middle. (Taco shaped? I'm not even sure how you'd achieve such a shadow effect, in Photoshop.)
When the Hallcraft "Tomorrow's Classic" dinnerware
by Eva Zeisel was being issued, Hall asked Zeisel to come up with patterns, in addition to the all-white. Although Zeisel did not actually design most of the patterns selected, she was not against the concept. She got her Pratt Institute students to design the patterns.
Her philosophy was "When in doubt, buy white".
It's interesting that the fantasy and a few other patterns are more collectable these days than the all-white.
