Hello everyone, I have seen the great success others have had with identifying Scan/Danish furniture here, so I would like to give it a go. My wife recently acquired a Danish round dining table with 2 leaves, as well as 6 dining chairs. We are very happy with this set, and would love to know the designer(s) of the chairs in particular.

I believe the chairs are made of teak (?) wood, with a contrasting darker set of 6 flat, vertical slats that are bent at an angle, giving an ergonomic seating position. There is a faded "Made in Denmark" print on the bottom of each, but it is barely readable. The closest I have found is the Arne Vodder "Model 51" which is very similar... but still not the same as our chairs. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help! - JesseS.

Arne Vodder Maybe?
I have been continuing my research project to try to track down the designer of these cool slat chairs. I believe they may be a design from Arne Vodder, who is knows for upwards of 2,000 designs.
As I mentioned in my main post, these chairs are generally similar to the Model 51 (same angled side risers), but differ in the wood slates vs. the wicker seating and back of the 51.
Anyone know anything else about the 51 or perhaps some other chairs that are similar from Vodder? If nothing else, its a good mystery to solve, and the chairs are nice looking (and comfortable!). -JesseS

Åkerblomsstolen
The back rest reminds me of the Swedish design 'Åkerblomsstolen', based on Bengt Åkerblom's thesis "Standing and sitting posture" (1949, Karolinska institutet).
Swedish designer Gunnar Eklöf designed several chairs based on Åkerbloms thesis and they were produced by manufacturers in different countries. The most well known 'Åkerblomsstolen' was sold by NK in Sweden. I believe also other designers did their versions of chairs following Åkerbloms ideas.

They don't really look like Vodder's style in my opinion. Have you tried checking the furniture index?

Thanks for the lead
Thanks alexandersforum (Alexander?), I will definitely check out the Wikipedia page for some leads on NK and Åkerbloms. Regards, JesseS.

I somewhat agree with you
Hi NickR60,
I agree with you?to some extent. The one defining design on these chairs is the sharp angle to the backs; I haven't really seen this on very many Danish/Scan designs, with the exception of Vodder, and only one ONE model (Model 51).
So, while I am inclined to agree at first, the 51 is the ONLY chair I have found so far that looks close (see pic below).
Considering he produced some 2,000 designs, it stands to reason that my chairs may be one of his; I am happy to be proven right or wrong!
Thanks for recommending the index; I did not find anything there as of yet, but I will add these in If/when I source out the details.
Thanks for the reply. Regards, JesseS.
