I just picked up this Danish Cabinet. Its a lovely looking thing with two serving trays that pull out from undernieth the doors. Fantastic veneer.

Does anyone recognize the design and makers mark?

Thanks in advance for any input.

I Could Be Wrong..
but... I've seen that mark and very similar on lots of pieces, and think it might be the plywood manufacturer that they use for the plywood backs of these things.
Like I said, I could be wrong- but have a hunch
Simon will probably know for sure either way.

Thanks for the lesson...
Thanks for the lesson Simon.
Do you think the star on the makers mark indicates that it would have been produced in the South East of the Island near Nexo?
Have you come across many of these pieces before?
Curiouser and curiouser.

Are we sure it's not a pork chop?

So....
I guess it's safe to assume that "BM" stands for "Bornholm Mobler"?
(before Simon's invaluable lesson in Geography, I too assumed the shape to be a porkchop).

Well worth a visit
Yep in deed it stands for Bornholm Møbler who are more known for the secretairs and wallunits which they supplied to many a campus including the university of London though Heals.
Now the real gem is the ISLAND itself.
I can highyl recommend a vist to it and especially the herring smoke houses.
Nothing beatsd a fresh warm smoked herring with several shots of Gl dansk (gammel dansk is a dram brewed from 19-20 or so hebs and is just wonderful to wake you up in the morning.
Also the island is small so you can cycle across it in roughtly 2-3 hours.
I am not sure exactly where BM was located but that does not really matter. They made their mark on the lasting furniture legacy.
