You are looking at an AX chair by Peter Hvidt & Orla Mølgaard Nielsen for Fritz Hansen. By far one of my favorite chairs of all time, they really do not get the credit they deserve. The disassemble with no tools by rotating the four crossmembers fore and aft.
The versions with wood seats were veneered in bookmatched mahogany (at least our were) and represent true 3D wood forming, which was far more sophisticated that the Eames molded chair products.
Nice find. Never had one with an upholstered seat.
The fabric is brown leather. Frankly I have not seen it in person yet but will aquire soon. Ill post some photos. Thanks for the quick ID. Is this a desirable chair? I'm pretty excited to see it.
Quite an interesting disassembly. I picked up a Ole wsnscher rocking chair recently that also disassembles. I suppose this practice reflected a modern philosophy of ease of shipment?
Thanks again. DB
