I wonder how many fellow DA'ers out there have used the services of Plycon van lines.Seems like every MCM seller on Ebay highly recommends them, but I had a major screw up occur when I used them.Through Ebay,I bought an Eames Lounge/ottoman from a party in Texas.I enlisted the services of Plycon, who promptly arranged the pick up and gave me an ETA for its arrival.Well,to make a long story short,it took four f**'in weeks, when it was supposed to arrive in 10 days!! At one point, they actually lost track of where my chair was! They finally tracked it down in their Albany warehouse, after I nearly had a stroke. When it finally arrived, instead of careful wrapping,it was swaddled in a few meagher scraps of that cellophane-like wrap;-no blanket,no padding!! I found a bunch of soft rubs/scuffs on the Rosewood which the seller swears were never there. This is after paying nearly $300. for their services. Therefore,I conclude that Plycon s**ks!!.I'm wondering if their screw-ups are frequent,or has anybody ever actually had a good experience with them? I have heard Greyhound does a pretty good job for much less.

I sold an expensive item and...
I sold an expensive item and the plycon guy showed up at 6:00 am threw a 1000 dollar wood item side down on a cart and bumped it out my house. I was like um I can help you this item is expensive he was like oh ok man. At that point had the item out the door and he blanket wrapped it but he only had two blankets one for each chest and they did not cover the item entirely exposing the wood to the stretch wrap he used he then threw the item face down on the cart and wheeled it out to the van. I told him that I was going to help him with the next item and he assured me that everything was fine. Now that i am typing it out I am not sure why I didn't get in his face on the spot about the way he was treating the item. Maybe because it was 6:00am and he just woke me up. And he assuring me everything would be fine.
Anyway buyer left positive feedback but no real response as to being very happy.
But I was in shock
Greyhound has been good to me with the exception of the size restrictions not being right, and them taking forever in some cases.

Only had one piece of...
Only had one piece of furniture shipped to me, by Greyhound. An extremely frustrating experience. A two day shipping took 12 days. Item was declared lost and untraceable. Eventually a savvy customer service rep found it caged in Chicago. Had I not been so persistent, the item would have never arrived.

knock knock
Knock on wood, I've never had a problem with either service. With Plycon, they've always made sure to document the existing condition/damage and have wrapped the crap out of stuff with blankets and cardboard bumpers. Make sure you oversee what they're doing and I think that makes them be more careful.
With Greyhound, yeah they're slow but they're cheap. I think the key is to make sure you pack the crap out of stuff because I doubt they're very careful with the boxes.
I've had the worst problems with FedEx. Won't ever use them again. Guy didn't show up for a week and then lied saying he'd been there every day and we weren't home. Then he kicked a giant pair of Venetian glass lamps down our front stairs right in front of us. Thank god they were packed well.
I know that's not so helpful when stuff is being delivered to you, just my experience.

I've used Plycon 2 or 3 times
and didn't have any problems.
I bought a 1928 floor model Columbia phonograph on eBay and I used Plycon to ship it from Denver to Minneapolis....no problems (this machine needed to be kept upwright).
I bid on and won my sofa and Plycon delivered it from Cincinnati to Minneapolis...again, no problem.
If what you described happened to me, I would've called up Plycon and asked for a discount off the cost; I think they might've given some money back for the bad scheduling, misdelivery to the wrong warehouse and to the less-than-ideal protection that caused the surface damage.
I'd use them again if I need their services.

"Crapshoot"
Plycon delivered a Lounge chair, ottoman, & 2 cyclone tables. Cross country. Average 3+ days late. One grumpy driver/deliverer. Dried Fecal matter on the blanket for the last delivery. It's a crapshoot.
