The main reason I've reduced...
The main reason I've reduced my time on this forum is because of the attitude of some folks on here. I'm sure it's a minority, but still. I recently bore the brunt of it myself, for simply asking help with an ID. It's remarkable how much more willing a lot of people are to knock someone down or even make an accusation than to congratulate someone on a nice find or pay a compliment. I know, it's an internet thing. Anonymity brings out the worst in people. But maybe before you post something, pretend for a moment that you are signing the comment with your real name (I wish that were the case). Or perhaps that you even know the person you are addressing in real life. Would you still write your comment the same way?

All that was
really necessary, to complete this thread, would have been the first two posts. End of story. Why it needed to go on from there I couldn't say . . .

Couldn't' agree more.
It is unfortunate that Design Addict has become somewhat of a haven for those who have little to contribute to the design community aside from snide remarks, sarcasm, accusations, or flat out insults. I've learned a lot here over the last few years and am happy to share my knowledge when I have the time. Everyone has to start somewhere and we've always got more to learn. Kudos to Gene and Straylight.

50/50
In my opinion, the forum members run the gamut here, as with pretty much any online forum. For the most part, this place is a useful source of information and discussion.
You have to admit that it is often times very difficult to discern the true motivation behind certain people's threads, which in turn results in general skepticism, cynicism, and reluctance to help, unfortunately.

Not really
I've seen some people ask for attributions on this site and receive nothing but rude comments, insults and a deliberate drive to make them react, resulting in a thread that goes a little mad; and then I see some people who ask for attributions in almost the same fashion and receive straight forward responses.
Why the slinging against some and not all, or just not at all?
Personally, I go elsewhere to get attributions rather than on here where you just never know who is going to enter in on the thread not to assist, but to create trouble. If someone asks for an attribution, why would people jump in if they can not help?
I really didn't see my tirade being anything more than typically what happens to some threads and thought it the norm to belittle knowingly false stories, I mean her story was so far out there I couldn't resist, and if she had just asked without the bogus story I would never have responded at all. I admit I took a chance and ran with it.
I'll try and behave more in line with what people want, but some of the long-term posters on here appear to attack regularly - I am not the only one who has noticed this, though I was not a member for a long time and just a visitor until I created an account.
This forum is generally hostile by rule rather than exception, and it is obvious there are some who make it this way, intentionally it would seem. I am sorry I added to the problem, and if you take a look this was my first time whereas others do it repeatedly.

I don't get it.
You're complaining about the problem, yet perpetuating it at the same time.... ?
