Hello,
I just purchased this Ponti-style table and 6 chairs...i just had a crush on them and now i would like ton know more about them...but couldn't find any info.
They are marked 'made in Italy' and with the manufacturer's mark : A Canciani. But no name of the designer.
As the designaddicts here have impressed me so many times with their great knowledge, i thought maybe somebody here would happen to know something about this set.
Maybe there's no designer and this is just local Italian furniture of the fifties?

The chairs are extremely lightweight and very similar to the superleggera from ponti the cane-seat is made with the same technique and pattern...It seems to me that these are quite high-quality items and i'd relly like to find out more...
Anyone has an idea of a reference book or website to look into?

chiavari did produce pontis superleggera chairs for a period.
nice set....sometimes chiavaris chairs were called toothpick construction because of their super light construction.
I just acquired an armchair which appears to be by A. Canciani. There are no labels but a small branded name block on the back of the front stretcher. When I googled his name your 11 yr-old blog conversation came up. Were you ever able to find info on this designer? Would you like to see pictures of the chair?
