Thanks for posting the catalogue images
I bought 5 lamps in Australia which look exactly like interplay lamps (4107) in the catalogue except these ones have 3 little brass screw devices on the outside to hold the interior bulb housing in place. They are black with a white interior and feature the same coloured plastic inserts. I'm wondering if they are made in Britain or made under license in Australia. Does anybody know if these lamps were copied or made by other companies?
Thanks,
Tick.
Images of Sylvia Reid lamp?
Hi,
I hope these pics give an idea of the lamp.
These appear to be the same design as the Sylvia Reid
interplay light fitting, but the bulb housing is different
to others I have seen for sale in the U.K.
Shade is approximately 24cms tall and 12.5cms in diameter.
Please note that the images I have attached were produced by the seller.
Many thanks,
Tick
Lamp detail
Hi there
Thanks for posting the pics.
I've had a couple of that type in the past, but not with the little 'bar' details on the side. That said on the 'Interplay' catalogue image the shades labelled: 4106 & 4107 look like they might have the same detail?
So they could be 'right'?
I know Rotaflex did export a lot of designs, but don't have any info about Australia I'm afraid,
Hope that helps
Thanks Mr Wilson
Thanks for taking the time to look. I think you are right, there does appear to be that little brass screw on a few of the larger lamps. I think I can attribute the lamps to John and Sylvia Reid.
I plan to keep the lamps but it's always nice to know the background on vintage pieces. British design from the 1950's and 1960's continues to inspire me, so many beautifully made and interesting pieces. Now if I could just find one of those lovely John and Sylva Reid floor lamps.
cheers,
Tick.
