What kind of chairs are they? I/e skill level required. I have used a couple of upholsters here (Auckland) but it would depend what they are. Otherwise I can try and get other recommendations if they are a trickier job.

US and Auckland both. I've got a great upholsterer here in the States that used to work for the Smithsonian restoring. No recommends for AKL though. Sorry. Guessing the good guys with reasonable prices are out in Mangere. Look for someone that does classic car upholstery out there.

They are very straight forward chairs, simple seat pad and slight curve to the top of the chair, I guess the only issue will be that they want them covered in calfskin which I have never used as a material / seat covering myself. I want to try to find someone in Auckland to price the job and see if they compare with my upholsterer so that I can send them over as is and let the couple have more of a say in how they are done.....I don't want to do them here (Ireland) and then ship them to get a disappointed reaction as I wont be in a position to fix / help.
