Lenox - the stools are not Aalto so tell your Dutchman to take a hike. Easiest way to check is to know that Aalto stool legs are not made of plywood, they are solid birch, with (visible) veneer inserts at the leg bend only. Simples.

Extensive and wise use of "laminated" wood is essencial in ALL Aalto work, including architecture. Too much superficial discussion... it's better to go and make some research. Some literature about Aalto here:

To be clear
Yes, Aalto uses laminated plywood. However, the legs of his stools are solid wood. There is lamination in the legs, but this begins just below the curve. See photo.
