I have been reading several threads
and several people have commented on how nice Alphavilles Barcelona chairs are .
I have the Knoll chairs from the the 70's and I bought a set of Alphavilles 6 month a go from Furniture Fancy and to tell the truth ....
I have been over every inch with a tape measure to see what the difference is . There is such a small difference in the 70's set from the new Alphaville ones .
The only differnce is in the steel feet. Alphaville retooled so they won't scratch your wood floors. The new Knolls that i saw at DWR have the Mies name on them (for that money they should have the mans picture,) The cushions on the new ones are some what different and they say if you want they can get you Spinneybeck on the chair
.I know that the Alphavilles are made in China and use great leather . and you can get them in 10 colors of leather .
I know there are several modern furniture companies that sell the chairs for some reason I started buying with Furniture Fancy and I have stayed with them cause of the good customer service,
I also bought two Petite Le corbusiea chairs and the only differnce from the licenced Cassena from Italy are they are a little more stiff (foam is harder) but they also come in great colors the stainless steel/ chrome turned out great.
These two chairs have been in the public domain for so long I find it no problem picking up a set from A reliable manafacture like Alphaville as i have seen them in other stores made by different manafatures that do not seem to be the same quality ,
I don't feel that i purchased a cheap knock off like a lot of other stuff out there ,
What do you all think ??????
I personaly would never want a Eames Lounge chair from any one but Herman Miller or A Womb chair from Knoll. or a Egg chair from Fitz Hansen . but for some reason i feel
good about these chairs made by Alphaville.

I've seen a Alphaville...
I've seen a Alphaville Barcelona next to another brand Barcelona Knockoff and Alphaville is highly superior. Not only does the Alphaville leather and piping look really nice, but the way the cushions attach to the frame is much nicer. I agree that I wouldn't feel weird buying a Alphaville knockoff of the Barcelona, but would with some of the other classics.

no i do not know ... there are several in China and I think you have them all listed ... but I wish I too knew which one . but I have a feeling that Alphaville keeps them so busy with all the products that they make i bet they don't need to work for any one else. If you look at ebay and the internet in the USA
everyone of those modern furniture makers uses Alphaville . I know that
white on White has a differnt contact that they use.
I did hear something very interesting
the whole deal is in the Shipping These companies on ebay and the Internet turn in a full conatainer amount every month as it takes 8 weeks to land on the water in California . Once they have the caontainer full that makes the shipping go down to nothing.
If you
or I tried to order a set of Barcelonias from China direct we would pay three times more for shiping and that is what kills the deal that is why these guys can make you such a wonderful deal on the chairs.

I have dealt with shenzhen M&F for a large order of Barcelona chairs for a dept store chain . I changed my order/manafacture at the last minute to Alphaville cause when you are dealing with over $75,000 U.S. dollars you want to have a perfect understand ... I was informed to hire a broker at the port , and then you have to have them cleared . and then needed to re ship them to points east. I was better off making 30 less a chair and let someone else handle that but there chairs did look like nice quality and the leather seemed nice but at the end of the day Alphaville for the money has them all tied up. also with there network.

do you have a large order ... sounds like yours was some what similiar to
what i was going to do. they wanted me to come see there factory in china they were very nice and answered me very fast. at the time i was just not set up so i went through a rep of Alphaville.

that is 25 containers a month so one company on the internet might take 4 full containers .
There are about 25 companies on the internet that sell modern furniture
so that is really not that much.
i bet Alphaville is shipping at least 50 containers to all there vendors and then they re ship to us
Every thing comes to the port in Long Beach and clears customs .
that is why i needed my own broker to clear for me then re ship.
