The Go
The go with our property is that the majority of Americans seem to think a faux tudor-colonial-country cottage-neo classical mash-up is the most desirable form of architecture.
Most Americans would view the above posted link in Illinois and say "ew..its so...retro."

I disagree, I think the reason for this is something called
"the housing market crash", which of course lead to something called "the recession".
Almost everything is cheap. I know a lot of Canadians have been buying up property, hoping for a good return when the US economy bounces back.
You can buy a house in Detroit for $1.

McMansions
Are magically delicious.
Supersize me please!
Sadly (or rather, gladly), no one can really afford these bloated crap homes anymore... Well, they never could to begin with.

"ew..its so...retro"
...now that's funny!
We have the same shit here and in fact I help build the hideous things
I was looking for images of conversation pits/sunken lounges and all these American 'dream houses' (my dream houses) appeared....i'm gobsmacked!
The nice thing about here they still have gotten to the "ew..its so...retro" thing

The property in the OP's post costs slightly less than what my boring, 1 Bed, 1 bath, 600 square foot condo is valued at. Doesn't seem fair.

You being in Australia, I'm surprised you found that listing Ball. Good sleuthing skills!
I like the outline of the home, teal beams & wood paneled walls. The brick color, I feel, was a wrong choice. The kitchen...my god what happened!
If the house has been on the market for sometime, you could get below $200,000. A friend just sold her home at a $60k loss.

the USA is an amazing source...
the USA is an amazing source of information for most things I do
whats it like buying quality furniture. I've bought at Wrights a few times and is comparable to most other countries. I mean off the street (craigslist etc) so to speak?
if you're wondering what it's like here?
most people still don't know shit from clay here but thats to my advantage
it's not too hard to find quality here but others would disagree

Looks like
It's close to St. Louis, Missouri.
There are plenty of mid-century gems in the midwest.
