Brabantia ...
Wow, I just created trash cans in every color. Too bad the exchange rate is so not in my favor.
I have a Rubbermaid-type can now -- it's broken. I'm not getting another. I want steel. I'll probably just go to BB&B and get a Simple Human.
Thanks, all.

I just can't imagine a trash can as decor
so lots of colors don't thrill me. I want simple, unobstrusive, practical, capacitive and sturdy. I got all of that with the one I have. Plus it also have a coating on it that keeps it from getting all those stainless steel shmears. Having the inner liner that you can remove is also very helpful as I tend to collect the waste from smaller baskets on my way out the door to the barrel!
Funny how it is that a well designed tool can really make your day!

bullet
I do love the bullet trash can. There is the Kickmaster from Wesco that opens on top (kind of like a mouth). That is much handier than the classic model.
The Brabantia have a nice design, but the plastic trash bags we have to buy from our city do not fit.

True, Olive
It's only decor if one really doesn't use it for stinky trash.
I like the colored cans because the right color would make it less obvious. A nice green can would blend into the wall, while a steel or white will stand out. Or I could leave my wall unpainted, which I've managed to do quite well.

Trashy and loving it
Thanks for the input, everyone. I ordered a Simple Human can in white, and it arrived today. It's great. Now if only someone would get the kitchen painted that cheery green-yellow instead of posting online ...

Brabantia
I have had the same Brabantia for about five years now. Every morning I smack the metal porta-filter from my espresso machine against the edge of the bin to dislodge the spent coffee from the cup.
Years of physical abuse has not left one chip, ding or blemish on this bin. They are incredibly well made.
It looks quite nice too.

Oh, the irony
So, I spent a couple of hours trying to figure out what trash can to buy, not to mention more than $100. And I got a new one and it's great. (People have been commenting on it -- I didn't think it was THAT nice!)
A few days after I got it, DD turned 7 and we had a party.
And now the trash can has a dent. Doh!

Chairs!
Forget the trash can, where'd you find those awesome chairs?!
