Well, decided I needed a few plant stands for some old pots.
So, I cut the stool legs down and threw on a few coats of ext. poly on and there ready to go outside.
The three on left are what they looked like before, right after.

By far the sweetest display of politely updated Aalto stools that I could ever imagine. Simply fab.

You've more money than I...
And more balls...
Or less respect...
I can't decide really.

Thanks to all that like them.
I don't believe they are authentic Aalto stools, so cutting them down was hopefully no sacrilege and at $3 per stool was easy on my pockets!
Next, to cut the other stools down just enough to fit under our coffee table.

Roger that!
I have a couple I bought from Target years back that don't look quite as good as yours. That said, I'd buy more if I could find them at that price and find as many uses as possible for them... as you're doing.
Very nice looking.

Not Real
Not real. The ply tops is a giveaway. I have a few Aalto stools kicking about that I use as plant stands. I prefer mine original height, as it brings the plants closer to the windows.

I like them.
There are enough of these in the world that a few can be modified -- in a way that the architect might well have done himself -- without the Earth tipping off its axis (it seems to me).
Well done !

Huh.
Just made me tilt my head a bit.
Even if it is a borrowed design, a knock-off, it still says 'stool' to me and always
has been quite nice the way they stack. Now it has become a bit of an insect.
No real purpose except to assist a child in brushing their teeth?
(i could expect that in a page of Dwell)
Or to pedestal a plant...
Still odd looking. Hmm.

I'm a bit hmmmmm too, I remember getting a lecture on the porous nature of plastic finishes/coatings when studying, Unless the timber and adhesive in a lamination are good enough for outdoor use there will be trouble.
