I know value largely depends on whatever one's willing to pay for a thing, but $420 (which is what it sold for on ebay) seems high for this chair. I own two of these in the same color. I like them very much, but honestly I wouldn't pay $420 for them.

Sure...
Arm chairs have been doing quite well lately, in my observation. If they're in good shape and nice color, 350 - 400 is not uncommon.

Not weird
I certainly have depended on "finds' for my collection and I don't normally pay anywhere near what anything is worth - so I get it. But in actuality this is only marginally more than buying a new, plastic version or a repro from Modernica. I would rather pay 450 for this than 350 for Modernica/HM.

Not unusual
The market has it's ups and downs. When the market is up I've sold greige armshells for $450+, without a base. But when the market is down, the exact same condition and color shell will sell for $200-$250.
Wright's upcoming Eames only auction is stirring interest and bringing the market up right now.

Is it the Draper effect?
I've been wondering: Has "Mad Men" increased interest in and the prices of MCM pieces?
