Hi . Im doing a project on 1960s visual culture and design at art college , and I chose furniture . Im currently looking at Verner Panton , Joe Colombo and Eero Aarnio but I am finding it impossible to source any quotes from them !! ive googled them and used many quote finding sites but I really cannot find any ! does anyone know of any or whrer to find them ? thanks , Jen 🙂

Dear Jen,
I read your question and thought I might be able to help. A friend of my dads started Kvadrat, (www.kvadrat.dk) a company that make textiles for many of the big Danish furniture designers. Both he and my dad knew Panton (apparently quite a character). If you call Kvadrat I should imagine that they'd either know a good quote from him, or atleast maybe point you in the right direction.

... Percy Von Halling-Koch? He was quite a character too who's importance regarding Danish design is highly underrated. Would someone please write a book about this man!
My favouite quote by Panton is: "You sit better on a colour that you like"
Panton knew what the future would bring. Check out these quotes from Stern magazine no. 30, July 1967, about everyday life in the year 2000:
"A lot of things suggest that cooking will become a hobby ... .Entire menus come out of the food factory ready to eat ... housework as we know it will no longer exist".
"The function of apartments in the future will change to the effect that people will be able to use them to recover from the daily pressure to do well and achieve results".
Actually, Panton has said a lot of interesting, always thoughtful and often also quite funny quotes. It's certainly a field worth investigating.
I would buy or borrow Vitra's huge book about Verner Panton.
